Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) combines the effects of ketamine with an intentional psychotherapeutic process. Rather than approaching ketamine as a stand-alone intervention, I work with it as part of a broader therapeutic relationship that includes preparation, careful support during sessions, and integration afterward.
Ketamine can create a temporary shift in how people experience themselves, their emotions, their bodies, and familiar patterns of thought. For some people, this can make difficult material more accessible or create greater flexibility around ways of thinking and relating that have felt entrenched.
My approach is relational, experiential, and individualized. Depending on the person, sessions may involve periods of inward attention, conversation, mindfulness or somatic awareness, and opportunities to explore what is emerging in the moment. I do not assume that every experience needs to be interpreted or that an intense psychedelic experience is inherently more therapeutic than a subtle one.
KAP may be incorporated into ongoing psychotherapy or offered as a more focused series of sessions.
I work particularly with concerns related to:
Depression and anxiety
Trauma and attachment
Substance use and other difficult behavioral patterns
Life transitions and questions of identity or meaning
Experiences that have not responded adequately to conventional psychotherapy
Ketamine is prescribed and medically managed by an appropriate medical provider. We coordinate care as needed.
Available in Connecticut and New York.
